“American teeth whitening” is a marketing term, not an approved technique. It refers to a protocol based on gels containing high concentrations of hydrogen peroxide—concentrations that are incompatible with European regulations for over-the-counter products but are available to dentists and, under their supervision, to certain trained professionals.
Regulation (EC) No. 1223/2009 is the applicable legal framework in France. It distinguishes three thresholds for hydrogen peroxide (HP) concentration:
A gel containing 16% carbamide peroxide releases approximately 5.7% hydrogen peroxide during the reaction. This concentration corresponds to the intermediate category: legal only under the supervision of a dentist. This is the regulatory pathway for supervised home bleaching: this is what WHITECARE markets under the name “American Whitening.”
The WHITECARE products listed here are intended exclusively for dentists and authorized professionals working under their direct supervision. They are not approved for use in beauty salons without a prescription and dental supervision.
16% carbamide gel: 10-ml graduated syringes, formulated and tested by an independent cosmetic laboratory. Mint flavor. Each batch bears a traceability number and an expiration date.
CE-certified gingival barrier: medical device compliant with European regulations. Gingival protection is essential at these concentrations: the 6% HP gel is irritating to unprotected mucous membranes. Single-use 1.2 ml syringes.
Complete kits: set including gel + gingival barriers + dental retractors + preparation accessories. Packaged for treatment courses of 3 to 10 sessions depending on the kit.
To understand the legal framework and criteria for choosing between carbamide and hydrogen peroxide in a professional protocol, see our article: what American teeth whitening really is.
All WHITECARE gels are registered with the CPNP (Cosmetic Products Notification Portal). Each batch undergoes verification of its actual active concentration by an independent cosmetic laboratory before being released to the market. Technical documentation is available upon request.
An RPPS number is required to place an order. This requirement is not a mere formality: it ensures that the product is used within the regulatory framework for which it is designed.
